It is about time that Big Data and open source technology had their own convention for the IT enthusiasts to share their knowledge and do a little networking. The wait is over for Europeans and those lucky enough to travel across the pond, because Germany has an exciting event going on in Berlin, June 3-4 called Berlin Buzzwords.
What is Berlin Buzzwords? Here is the official description:
Berlin Buzzwords is a conference for developers and users of open source software projects, focusing on the issues of scalable search, data-analysis in the cloud and NoSQL-databases. Berlin Buzzwords presents more than 30 talks and presentations of international speakers specific to the three tags ‘search,’ ‘store’ and ‘scale.’
It sounds like a combination of entertainment and improving career skills. What is interesting is that this conference appears to do away with the normal formalities found at these events in favor of a more relaxed atmosphere. The guest speaker list is quite impressive as well. Among the IT “celebrities” are Clinton Gormley of Elasticsearch, Mikio Braun of TWIMPACT, and the familiar Grant Ingersoll—co-founder of LucidWorks and Apache Lucene promoter. Ingersoll will be delivering a session called, “Crowd-sourced Intelligence Built Into Search Over Hadoop.” This is perfectly timed, because LucidWorks and MapR, a company based on Apache Hadoop, recently added LucidWorks to power its search for better Big Data performance.
Berlin Buzzwords is coming up soon, so book your tickets quickly!
